Spine Calculator help
« on: March 07, 2009, 07:55:00 PM »
Guys,
I'm itching to try that calculator but I work on a Mac and it doesn't seem to jive.
I've got a reflex/deflex longbow, 51 lbs, true 28" draw. I want to shoot my 30" BOP gold tip 55/75s with 100 grain inserts, 160 gr heads and 5 inch feathers. Would love to know if that is the preferred choice?
I'd owe ya one if someone would run the numbers for me?????
Thanks,
CJ

What string type and how close to center is your bow cut?

Assuming FF string and 1/8 outside of center, they are showing a little weak on the calculator.  You could go to 29" and get it good or drop the head weight down to 220 total from your 260 and get it right on.

Thanks guys,

I am shooting a FF string, not sure of material. The cut out looks dead center....but I'm not really sure how to get an accurate measurement of that. The bow is a Morrison Dakota if that helps.

I greatly appreciate the help.

I believe the dakota is cut to center.  So your arrows are underspined now.

Your bow needs 58.6 dynamic spine, current arrow is 50.1.

Shortening it to 29" and dropping pt weight to 230 gives you 58.9 at 509 gr and 21.8% FOC.
