i have been shooting on a dozen ad trad for about a month or so, and over the last couple weeks i have broke 4 one a cracked nock end from a near robinhood, this has to be expected, but the other three are from glancing of a 3d target all broke right were the taper begins.   wondering if anyone has had the same issue,  i love the way they shoot compared to gt but i only broke a couple this way in year with the other shafts.

I had some (not trads), Very weak on the nock end. I put some uni-bushings in them and it helps, but I still went back to GT's.

I have had alot of AD shafts (Some trad-lites, Trad Heavys and Nitro-lites) and I have not broken but maybe 2-3 ever. And that is out of at least 5 or 6 Dozen arrows.

Sounds that way. I've broke them at the nock end hitting them with other arrows and have cracked the point end on glancing hits on rock when stumping. Never had them break where it's happening to you though.

I had one break the same place as you did. It broke glancing off of a 3D target at a steep angle.

im getting low and they cost a little too much so i had to wrap the nock end of one that was cracked and take my chances.

I had one break on the tapered end upon release, believe me, it was not a fun experience. I would not dare shoot one that was cracked.

I shot last weekend and missed my "target", the arrow went through a hollow core door and into the concrete wall behind  it ....so far so good..It  did not crack    Hopefully Ted will chime in on  this one, and tell us what he thinks. Thanks for posting this...I will definatly keep my eye on  this thread. I always figured they were bomb proof..Where did you get them from? Mabey you should contact who you got them from and let them know, mabey it is a bad batch.

If I were you I would give Arrow Dynamic's a call.  1-785-233-9541, and describe what happened.

My answer would be no....they are not easy to break.

Been shooting them exclusively since before Trad Gang....I've broke maybe a half dozen stump shooting in the 7 years I've been shooting them and I stump shoot a pretty good bit when I'm out hunting.

Rocks and glancing blows got them all, but not foam 3-D targets, but hard stumps, trees, and rocks. And they didn't all break in the same place....mostly up front on rocks, and more reaward on the glancing blows. Most of those that broke had already been shot a lot with a judo as well.

Far as I can tell they are tuff as nails.  I don't ever see myself switching to another arrow for the hunting I do.  I got a stock pile of em.

To many variables in that statement of glancing blows , hitting the nock end you can expect an arrow to break , but in my opinion the Traditionals and the Hammerhead are as tough as you can get.
Due to a thinner wall thickness I do not feel this way about the Nitros.
Jason , give me a call in the shop this weeks and we will get you a few more to test ( Hammerhead) at no charge. But I can assure you that by no means is there a problem with the shafts. I have found from experience it is best to hit the 3D target straight on rather than deflecting for any arrow.

Most brand arrrows you hit with another on the nock is going to break. With that out there, AD's are the toughest arrows I have ever shot. I won't shoot anything else. Only broke 1 so far adn that was because I buried a BH in a stump and twisted the arrow until it broke. I've hit trees, rocks, you name it and can't brake em. I use 100 grain brass inserts in the end and I use nock adapters with mercury speed nocks on the nock end.

all of these were glancing off the back, i was taking some long shots, i would go and find them hanging in the carpet backstop.  now this is not happening every time but about 50 50 with that type of hit.

Not to hijack the thread, but I was a comment on the hammerheads.  I cracked the back end of one by hitting a nock, just like most carbon arrows will.  What I did with the hammerhead stumping the other day I don't think many other carbons would have held up to.  I was just feeling like testing them out and shot one point blank (8-10 yards) straight into a large rock with my 63# recurve.  It was a little below freezing, temperature wise, and I figured the arrow might be a little brittle.  Just wanted to give it a shot.  Had a blunt up front with the standard insert.  Not a bit of damage to the arrow.  I didn't quite have the guts to try it on an angled shot, but these arrows are pretty darn tuff.

just got done with a round of shooting, i removed my 3d target and now am shooting in to a burlap with some polly in it.  well one passed through and i found it in a small snow bank right behind the bag, the arow was actualy facing backwards like it did a flip. The shaft was broke almost exactly where the last one was. im really starting to belive ive got a bum batch. the last two shots that missed or passed through have resulted in broken shafts,  that is 5 out of a dozen, again the nock end is expected.
Ted what would be the best way to contact arowdynamics about this.
