show me what point design you would use to shoot a water buffulo. i've been told that raw texas chert & ryolite would be the stones of choice. i need something TOUGH and sharp. to get a 300-400gr about 1" wide. i reckon fluting to allow more shaft material in the haft. also a more rounded tip for strength.

I would use a heavy bow with a heavy point.  I wouldn't go with a rounded tip.  I have shot some thick leather with it from 8 yards and a 50lbs bow and you need the point to get the arrow past the skin, then the blade slices from there, even if the tip is broke.  Raw texas chert can be really tough stuff, so as long as you have some mass to the point, it more than likely won't break.  I'm not an expert by any means though.  Just my two cents.

Your talking spear or knife weight at such a size.From what I have been reading lately anything in the sizes you mention is considered too big to have been an arrowhead.Im sure youll get some more info and a lot advice telling you to scrap the plan but let me know what you find out.Good luck.

If you can find someone to make them, I would recomend a Folsom, a Clovis or a Dalton.  All were used for animals that weighted about the same as a water bu.  That weight may be tough, the points will be pretty big to make that weight.  Try James Parker for the knapper.  Bill
