I have noticed something with my bow concerning placement of silencers. When I first began to tune my bow I did so with a bare string and bareshafting. I acheived what I thought was good arrow flight and then added my whiskers. This completely ruined my bareshaft tuning. Shafts were now showing pretty stiff. So, I trimmed them down to a very minute amount but still not good. I went to a string leech and things got better. Then, I began to move the leeches further away from center thinking the bow would have to move the silencers less distance creating less resistance. It worked! My bow came back into tune when the leeches were only 7-8" away from string/limb contact. This is way off from the 1/4, 1/3 method. To put it another way, the leeches are almost right at the end of the flemish braid. The bow was quieter this way as well
Personally I think the whiskers did a better job of hushing the string but I was able to tune to the bow with the leeches easier.
That being said, have you guys noticed similar results? Also, I hear alot about the Bow Hush/Hush Puppies. Should I try these?
