How many times a year do you shoot on a 3-d course? how far do you travel approx to shoot.

mcgroundstalker

I try not to miss the "Trad Shoots" in my area. Have no problem driving over 100 miles to get there. Then you have other local 3D shoots... Figure a dozen each season in total for me.

about 35 shoots per year , Forest Archers weds night shoot=4 miles, we went to "The Howard Hill Shoot" last year in Tannehill, Alabama..450? miles, "Long Hammock" every other weekend=20 miles, TBOF 3 times a year= 15 miles.

Around 15-20 a year for me.  We have an association made up of 4 clubs that have 4 shoots apiece each year(I'm an officer of one of these clubs). Then there are a handful of independent clubs within an hour's drive or so that I'll try to hit once or twice, as well as trying to make one larger, out-of-town shoot.  Last year my big one was the ASA Pro-Am in Paris, TX.  This year I'll be going to the Rinehart 100 in Tyler, TX.  I hope I have enough arrows for the R100!

we went to the r100 in pa one year that was a long day .but alot of fun .It is a 2 day shoot for sure.they give out some real nice stuff.

This Sunday will be my 3rd one.I try to get to one every weekend if i can.Last year i hit a couple of DOUBLE HEADERS in one day. That`s two differant places for 3D shoots. My 1st 3D was about 260 mile round trip.

Yeah, we will be making a weekend of it.  I'm not too worried about a door prize since I usually can't win a raffle even if it's rigged.  Good friends and cool targets should make for a fun weekend.

Between 7 to 10 a year and i will travel about 250 miles one way. The closest shoot to me is about 80 miles.

2-3 shoots a year.

It doesn't matter how or what you shoot, as long as you hit your target.

2-4/month and all the "big" trad only shoots in the stste of Texas. 3D is a game but is still good practice. I don't think it is correct to call the ten ring on a lot of targets heart shots and would not place an arrow in that spot on a real animal, but, still good practice. Besides, for me, a lot of the 3D thing (esp at the big shoots) is meeting up with old friends that I only get to see a few times a year and meeting new one too.

We're blessed here in SE Wisconsin.

I reside in suburban Milwaukee and live within one hour of ten active archery clubs, all of which conduct 3-D shoots --- outdoor and/or indoor --- between the first of the year and Labor Day. (Virtually nothing during the deerhunting season.)

I've shot ten 3-D shoots already this winter.  Another 3 dozen or so are scheduled for spring and summer.

Thats great we are real active around here as well. I created this post because I wanted to see how active other states were.an how offen they shot.

GMMAT

I've only shot one trad shoot, so far, but that's getting ready to change in a big way.

I've got two, this coming weekend!

Been a little lax the last year or two. Work and family have been keeping me busy but, not too long ago, I'd shoot 2-3 a month.  Been known to travel over 200 miles for some of the IBO regional shoots.  Love it.  Got a new 3D rig on order that's slated to arrive sometime in August.  Plan to get back into the swing of things next Spring.

Up until the past few years, I use to go almost every weekend during the spring/summer. I take the winter off from shooting and go skiing (although I know I shouldn't). When gas went up to $4 dollars I confess I went only to those in a 50 mile radius if that.

I support as many "local" clubs as I can--they are great places to introduce wives and kids to archery, not to mention meet up with friends I don't normally see anywhere else.  It's a good place to catch up on politics that affect our sport as well, and have enough people to sound off loud enough for a politician to hear it.

I'll travel 125 miles or so on a regular (monthly) basis to shoot a tournament, and a lot further than that occassionally (from MS to PA, or MS to TX).

I rather be hunting myself, but if I can't hunt I love to shoot 3-D.

I have a 3D range about a mile from where I live, so I shoot it often, twice a week. You would think I would get better.

Killdeer

I travel to 2 3D shoots per year, the furthest being 5 hours away. The Tennessee Classic looks tempting, though. (ten hours!!   )

I also may shoot in two or three local meets over the summer. My club is about a half hour away, and we have a good course set up. I may visit 30-50 times per year.
