Arrows from a board?

If you make a batch of arrows from the same board will they be close in spine and weight? I tried dowels and they vary a lot. Thought I may try some popular or hickery if I can find a straight grained board.

I have had mixed results fron the same board, usually there is a wide margin of spines, example, I made some white pine shafts out of a Home Depot board and the spines ranged form @45lb to a high of @80. Fir had been pretty close. Probably just the way the grain goes.

I've made a lot of ash shafts out of boards. I have found it can vary depending on the tree. If you get both hart and sap wood in the same board they will vary a lot. I have had some hartwood boards give me 50-60 shafts all within 10# of spine and 30-40 grain.
Hope this helps some.
