Terry,

I would like to take have a date with HOPE in May.  As it can take a while for stuff to get up here to Canada, would it be possible to have the last person scheduled now to ship it up here USPS Priority (Which can take 2 weeks) and I would get to hunt with her for the last two weeks of Bear Season.  I could then Ship it to the Winning Bidder after the auction.  If this is not possible, I understand, but I thought I would throw the idea out there.

Thanks,

Brian

I think we can make that work--she should have killed a couple of turkeys by then and maybe a hog

Terry,

I was looking at Faith's Schedule instead of Hope's.  That plan would work great though.  I can get stuff to the States Rather quickly, but it is getting it here that takes forever.

Joel,

If that schedule is OK with Terry, get with me closer to the time and I will get you my address and shipping instructions.  I will be moving before then, I HOPE!  LOL!!!  That will be a perfect time to take her Bear hunting.

Thanks guys,

Brian

Well my first date with Hope was a short one but pretty rewarding. If you look at the pic you can see the grass is laying over. Tween the wind, rain and shy gophers we were only out about 15 minutes. I started in the barn and shot four times and was pretty satisfied with the way the AD Trad Hunters were flying.

Very nice work Mark and everybody that contributed to this effort! I like the bow bolt too.

The first dead gopher was my second shot and the next one came a few minutes later. When my last 20 yard shot hit almost sidewise I figured it was time to go to the shop and get something done. More later....

Great pic, Doug. Kinda reminds me of when I was youngster and wound up on a bucking horse that tossed me up on the horn of the saddle just before flipping me over and landing me about that same way, fetched up against the riding ring fence. I kinda had a look like that on my face too, according to the Boss, and my shirt was suddenly soaked with sweat - but for a different reason/feeling     "[dead]"   Hat was still on my head though     "[laffsmyl]"     .

Pretty bow ya got there, along with that bracer.

Well, me and Faith got back from a HOT week of hunting down in the Terlingua (near Big Bend National Park) and Davis Mountains in far West Texas......

Here's where I camped for 4 days/3nights in Terlingua, did I say it was hot?

I spent most of the days scoping the area for javelina.....haven't seen one yet  :(

Although I did find this place that looked like it had pretty good "sign" that I might find one here....but some little fellar on a burro came by and told me that I would have to get off his place because it just didn't look right havin' someone sitting there with a bow and a quiver full of arrows and I was scarin' off all his customers

The rest of the time I spent trying to find a little shade or somewhere out of the sun and do a little varmint calling. I use a Western Rivers electonic caller with a remote, works really good to keep the critters attention away from me and on the call....

I had already called in a couple of foxes when I heard something behind me. I turned and looked and had another fox coming down the rocks straight towards me....I stood up and turned to get a shot at him when he turned like he was going to run....Instead of running though he turned towards me again. I shot him at about 10 or 12 yards with him coming straight towards me. The arrow went in right behind his right front shoulder and came out right in front of his left rear leg.

He ran back up the rocks and disappeared with my arrow....I heard a lot of clicking and thought it was the arrow on the rocks rattling around...
I waited about 15 minutes to give him a little time to calm down and went looking for him....

When I found the arrow, I realized that the "clicking" sound I had heard was this little fella chewing on my arrow to get it out!!!

I had a very good blood trail...

....thank goodness for the blood trail, because I would have never seen him in the thicket that he ran into...

I put a 38 special through his neck and got him pulled out and Faith had taken another trophy for her mantle!!! The blood on his rear leg was where the arrow came out and he pulled the arrow through...

After 4 days there, I headed to the Davis Mountains and hoped for a javelina or two from there, but had no luck.....did some more calling but Faith drew no more blood on this trip.....

All total (that I saw) I had 12 foxes and 2 coyotes come in and work around the call, but only two of them got close enough for a shot and the second one got a little hair cut off his tail but is otherwise still on the mountain!!

It was a beautiful week with tons of things to see and enjoy....

but as usual all good things must end.....

I hope to get a few more rabbits and maybe some more chances at varmints here close to home before I have to send her on her way to the next lucky lefty!!!
