3rd Attempt at Self Bow Somewhat Succesfull
« on: March 19, 2009, 08:14:00 PM »
Here is my third attempt at a self bow. This is one from black ash or at least that what I was told.
Tillered stiff on the bottom limb because I shoot 3 under.  I'm new at pics but I'll try to post so that ya'll can critique my tiller.  Bow is pulling 45 @ 27.  63 in knock to knock.  I shot this today and I'm loving this bow making stuff. Constructive criticism welcome.
Thanks Paul  <><

Paul, that is sweet! One of my first bows was made from white ash, just about like yours. I showed it to Tim Baker  and he liked it. You love it, that is really all that matters! Now go out and shoot something with it like I did and enjoy. And remember this is FUN! Oh, and the tiller looks really good. If your every driving in this part of indiana, give me a holler!

I spent 8 hours one day with Joebuck whittling down a piece of hickory. We cheated some and used some powertools. At halfdraw it broke and nearly missed my punkin' head. I went upstairs and called Dick Robertson and ordered a new bow.

You selfbow guys are in a class all your own. I salute your patience and perseverance.  :notworthy:

Looks great.  Way better than my attempts.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.
