Are there any ranges or shooting areas in the Sanibel Island/Fort Meyers area? Going down there with the family for mini vacation and was just wondering.

Capt. That is just wrong...wanting to shoot your bow while on vacation with your family. We are going to deduct 150 point from your Husband/Father of the Year award quest for 2009.
P.S. the family and I are going to the condo in Ft. Meyers as well on spring break so let me know if you find anything and I'll meet you there....but don't tell my wife.

Daughter is the one that suggested WE shoot while down there so add the 150 back. It is the d--- Blackberry that will really take some points away.

Lee County Archers apparently has a great range in North Ft Myers. I will try to round up some contact information for you.

Whats wrong with that. Some guys bring their golf clubs so why not bring your bow. Sounds like fun to me. Heck, do some stumping on the beach. Bet you can find something to shoot at.

I have inlaws there and they have a pig or two for running around for me to find next time I am in town. Maybe you should look for some pork to shoot?
Wish I could help you more than that. I'll have to look up the LCA's also next time.
Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I will look into LCA or a pig hunt. My daughter seems to be up for either one.

I can't think of any place on the small island you can do much archery practice. Certainly not at Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge. BUT if you want the very best French toast breakfast you might want to hop on a tandem bicycle with your daughter and pedal up towards the Lighthouse to this place.

Stumpin' on the beach would probably be more accurately called shellin'.
Stop in at the Sanibel Bean and try their peanut butter and jelly sandwich - I know it sounds goofy, but it's a great sandwich.

You can rent the tandems at "Billy's Bicycle Rentals but you might have to rig your own bow carriers. Then head out towards Casa Ybel Road and you might be able to pull off a little archery practice without getting in trouble. The quaint little island didn't appear to me to be "archery friendly" so I never considered bringing my trad gear there. We were too busy checking out the retro eating spots-"The Mucky Duck" for the evening sunsets-the girls liked the "Bubble Room" with all its old memorabilia. One place you might get lucky for an archery find-the "Goodwill Store" on the island. I bought several old archery hardback books there. Good luck and have fun! Sanibel is the only "beach" place I actually like to go to(in the dead of winter, that is) and the 25 miles of biking and the lack of commercialism(just old established places, including the Dairy Queen) is what I find appealing.

Was on Sanible last spring, great time! I kept thinking I need to get back and hunt some hogs. My sister is just north of Tampa so I got a place to stay. Not sure what she would say when I start butchering in the garage though???
