Right Spine = Great Results! (w/ Pic)
« on: March 23, 2009, 03:31:00 PM »
Well, I've been working with carbons now for about a year and have tried and tried to get the CX 350's and GT 7595's to shoot well. I went with the recommendation of a CX arrow technician instead of you guys and won't do that again!     :knothead:

So, I bought a batch of  fletched CX250's from  a Trad-ganger here to try and LOVE the results!!! Kept them 29" long and still using 250 gr. up front. They weigh roughly 600 gr. total and I can't believe the difference in arrow flight! They just seem so much more stable and  straight.

Pics are of a target in my back yard where I shot a group at roughly 20 yds. check it out:

You'll have to excuse all the wild holes in that target---I was VERY new to this just 2 years ago--from shooting a X-bow---took ALOT of shots to get me where I want to be---still not there yet either!

congrats.  I overcame that same battle with the exact same setup.  It feels good when the arrow goes the direction that you want it to.

That is a very impressive group!  The carbon battle is a rough one.  I have been battling the same issue it seems every goes through.  But trust me once you find that arrow that flys true, your confidence will sky rocket.  The biggest thing is, DONT GIVE UP.

Yep bet you would have had much better luck with the 5575 gold tip also.

I shoot 5575 and 7595 both with a little different setup, but I agree I had more luck with the 5575 myself

Is the outside diameter of the 5575's larger than the 3555's? I know the 3555's are 5/16".

Ill double check, but I think they are the same.  Now that I think about it am almost positive. The gpi is 8.9 for a 7595and 5575 are 8.2 gpi so they have to atleast have a thicker wall.

Bad thing about the GT's that I'm finding: the diameter is slightly larger than the  CX's and the brass inserts will not stay in. they just slide in easy and no glue I found will hold them in, even shooting into a bag target. That was with the 7595's though. Not sure yet about the 5575---Plan on trying them though as they are usually a little cheaper than the CX'x.

GTs get slightly thicker walled as spine increases. Not by much, but there are differences. Take a look  here .
