I will be there Friday a.m. to help with setup and stuff. I wish I could be there a couple of days earlier, but it looks like Friday.

RER is sending a recurve and a LX along with a gift for each shooter! Thanks RER!
This is very generous and unexpected. Thanks, David

Oh Rod, did I hear something about shooting an apple off your head at 40yds in order to win a bow...?    :biglaugh:
Well, since I'll have to be at gunpoint before anyone takes a shot at an apple on MY head...might as well go ahead and take all the bow's!  :biglaugh:

Something told me you wouldn't be up for that....but a good teacher should have faith in his student's abilities...? Not that much faith huh?

I would be more than happy to help out on the range before and after..
Also I will be getting back from a fishing trip in Alaska about a week before i head to Oregon and should have plenty of fresh Halibut and sockeye salmon, if anybody is up for a fish fry..

I have been thinking of buying a lower poundage recurve to use as a "training bow" to work on form. I shoot 55#@28" recurves. Rod, do you think I should go with a 40"er or 45"er?  What bows are you guys bringing with you to the clinic?

David...IMHO, its hard to beat 40# when working on form...light enough to get form nailed down, but not so light, that moving back to your hunting weight bows is a chore.

I'd encourage everyone attending the clinic to bring a light draw weight bow, if available....3R's and RER are supplying some loaners and I'll have few as well.

Thanks Rod. I have been looking for an older Bear or Martin X150 or X200 just for practice. Something kind of inexpensive.  Not one of "Classic Collectables" on e6@y!

Well, I'll surely qualify on the light bow issue!   I'll be bringing two of my OPA "bunged up old man" longbows... Lemonade at 17# and Flapjack at 27#.  I don't know from week to week what I'll be able to pull.   I'll probably finish another one by then, but I don't know what it will be.  Something in between or, if I'm doing well, maybe I'll shoot for 30#. I'm finishing a 40# right now that isn't for me, and it's been a real challenge trying to test and tune it as I go, not being able to shoot it at full draw. Maybe Rod can teach me a "consistent" floating anchor for short drawing heavier bows :^)

The info for the Shooting Clinic is buried in this thread.  Snag would it be possible to post the details of the clinic, time dates, is there still room for more folks?  Current list of attendees?

Maybe Rod could give a few trailers on what to expect.

I hope you guys are all doing your "extended draw" repetitions.

You guys are going to have fun!

Hi Larry! Yep, been watching the video and blind bale practicing...looking for a 40# recurve too!

Well guys I had to go back to page 3 of this thread to make sure I got it right.....
Dates: July 18th, Sat. and July 19th, Sun.
Times: 9am to 5pm both days
Location: Apple Knocker's Archery Range in Hood River, Oregon
Ted or Sean or myself will post a map of the range location.
Cost: SURPRISE!!! Rod has offered to do this clinic for $225 a person because of the economy. (Rod, I couldn't wait to tell them! I'm as bad as a kid the night before Christmas.) So, those who have paid in full will be getting a $100 refund!  I think Rod deserves a group hug...      :clapper:    :clapper:  Well maybe at least a "At a Boy!" and a thumbsup!

The clinic is all Rod's. So at some point in time maybe he will tell us a schedule of things to be done and discussed.

Not real clear...?  Well here are the directions:

Heading from Portland:
Take I-84 east, take the 3rd exit (the last    exit) for Hood River (to Mt. Hood).

If coming from the east:
Take the 1st Hood River exit.

As you take the Hood River exit you will be heading south on Hwy 35 towards Mt. Hood.
Go about 7 miles until the Neal Creek turnoff.
TL on Neal Creek Rd. There will be a pet camp and large metal buildings on the right side of Hwy 35.

Once on Neal Creek Rd. go about .5 mile
TL on Thompsen Rd., stay on Thompsen Rd and cross Neal Creek Bridge.
TR on Swyer Rd. Follow Swyer up the hill until the road turns to dirt. Look for turnoff to the range and the gate on left. Turn and go 1000ft to the site. Look for paper plate signs and orange survey flagging starting at Neal Creek Rd.

If you get turned around or have further questions call Sean at 971-235-2634 or you can call me on my cell 541-968-2832. I will have my cell on the day of arrival!

Any further info. and updates I will post them here. The time is flying by! Really looking forward to getting together and seeing what Rod has in store for us!!!

Thanks for the help Sean!
