125 grain NON-Vented 4-blade Magnus
« on: March 30, 2009, 06:17:00 PM »
Does anyone know if they make or have experience with the Magnus 125 grain non-vented 4-blade broadheads? I am looking for a multi-bladed alternative to my noisy, hissing Woodsmans.  Are the Magnus quiet?

I've used the 4-blade non-vented Magnus in the past, they were glue ons. Really liked them! just wanted to try some different heads. Pretty quite, penetrated very well, If these simmons sharks don't work out for me I will shoot the Magnus again. Check there web page, you can buy them there, seems like one of the trad shops in the classafieds had them for awhile as well.

Todd, do they wind plane?  Thanks for the advice.

A full size 4 blade like a Magnus glue on will not wind plane from a well tuned bow, but they will require a higher level of tuning than a Woodsman, which is a very forgiving head.  They don't hiss in flight like a vented head can, but occasionally the bleeder slot can cause a whistle.  When that happens I just smear a little chap stick in the bleeder slot in front of the bleeder blade after it's been installed and then they are perfectly silent.

Never had any trouble with wind plane,I shoot a 51# superghost w/550gr. carbons, like slobow said sometimes bleeders came loose I used a drop of super glue, but chapstick or a little string wax would work well also, good luck they are a really solid head.
