string tracker, attaches to arrow???
« on: March 31, 2009, 08:52:00 AM »
Want to try a string tracker, if that is what it is called, for hunting black bears this spring.

The thing has a small spool of some type and attaches a very small string to the arrow somehow.

Anyway I figure if you know what I am talking about maybe someone can lead me in the right direction to finding one.

Where we hunt bears is so thick I would like to increase the odds of not loosing one after the shot.

Shots are 5-14 yds so not worried about affects on arrow flight.

thanks

Plenty...I got my string tracker from Roger at Turkey Hunting Secrets.  He will answer all your questions...he's been shooting string for a long time.  He recommended tying it on with a snug fishermans knot (clinch knot) right in the small groove between adapter and insert (may want to sand for sharp edges) or behind the broadhead if shooting woodies.  Guru likes to use a little wrap of velcro in the same area and knot it there in the barbs of the velcro.
Heres a link to Turkey Secrets...I got great service with fast delivery.

Good Luck.

They used to make a small wire attachment that you put on your arrow before you screwed in your broadhead. It fit between your broadhead and the arrow. You tied the string to it. I used old bear heads on my cedars and tied the string right directly to he broadheads.  :archer:
