Dreams come true-eventually
« on: March 31, 2009, 11:53:00 AM »
I must share this one: I have been hunting with traditional bows since 1992 and almost as long I have dreamed about a Black Widow recurve. Living in Finland, Europe means that getting one is not so simple. Ofcourse I could have ordered a new bow from BW, but insurance, shipment and taxes here would have raised the price too high for a average guy like me. I have tried to buy used BW bows thru this site, but sellers have been reluctant to do business overseas...and I would be complicated from my side, too...to send money overseas and not get what you paid for?
And you know what? Today I found a BW; 64" 59@28
for sale in Finland! And it is supercheap! And seller sold it to me!!! I will get the bow (hopefully) by the end of this week...I cant belive this, but I had to share with people who understands...If all comes together well, I will post pictures about the bow and proud new owner...keep fingers crossed for me   :D

congratulations...   it's really wonderful to unexpectedly meet a long time goal like that...  I lent my Widow longbow to a friend to shoot a couple of weeks ago.   his only comment when we were done was, "Damn, I heard they were good, but that's the best bow I've ever shot!"    Now he's working on the same dream you had..

They who have been bitten by the BW bows know this stuff, I think. Just now I am about to explode waiting for that box carrying my new bow...thank you people for support and I will surely post some pictures when I get her in my hands...

Well it's really too bad folks think it's complicated to send overseas, because it's not.
There are some restrictions but not enough to keep you from sending bows to most places. It's basically the same as sending to the US, with the exception of adding the customs forms to the outside of the package.  If you do your postage via USPS Online, everything will be figured for you and they also print the customs forms.

You are right, we understand your excitement.  Congrats!  And what George said, I've sent a few bows to Italy, not that big of deal.

Cool Finland dude! Let's see some pics. Very glad for you. Also like to see the countryside area where you may shoot it. Any hunting opportunities nearby?

Well, nearest hunting opportunity is some 800 meters from my house even thouhgt I live in a small city...Beawers are causing some trouble in a littele lake here and city officials have asked our bowhunting club to reduce the herd...but more or less our situation here is somewhat ridiculous, only small game allowed to bowhunt(well we have Roedeer too in our list, but in my region Roedeer numbers are so low, that hunting is not allowed here)So, no separate seasons for bows, no big game like whitetail, Moose or Bear allowed to bowhunt...but wheels are turning in slow but steady manner-bowhunting is now presented in wery positive manners in our general hunting organisation and our Public Land management officials will launch a separate bowhunting permission to hunt small game on public hunting areas, it will be cheaper than rifle/shotgun hunting permission. So far any one wanting to hunt small game with bow & arrow on public land has bought a general permit and then hunted with gunners...our Grouses are guite spooky, as you can guess...
