Really Long Arrows for 33"-34" draw lengths?
« on: April 01, 2009, 11:42:00 AM »
OK all you real long draw guys, what are you using for arrows? My favorite shaft is the CarbonTech's but they are 32". I've got a couple guys wanting me to build bows for them and they need arrows. Where are you getting REALLY LONG shafts?

Thanks for your help!

Aluminums. Some of the Eastons come in 34" lengths.

A friend of mine has a really long draw 34". He started making his own wood shafts 3 years ago with a router and burnishing tool. He swears these long shafts are very hard and resilient for his powerful draw. So far no wrecks.

Split Hex shafts form Whispering Wind Arrows. Bob can supply them about as long as you want. Frank

33" 2020, 2115, 2117, 2215, 2216, 2312

33.5" 2213, 2314

34" 2219, 2315, 2317, 2412, 2413

34.5" 2512, 2513

Also the 340 Flatline come in 33.25" and the ACC 300 come in 33"

Lots of spines in there so I imagine something should work for them.

Could they join two carbon shafts by using an aluminum shaft to sort of foot them together.  Would only be a short piece on the end?????

For carbons, I foot the shaft with an aluminum, and use the insert from the aluminum.  They will bend at the interface, but if you want carbons, there aren't too many options.  Dave nailed it if you want to shoot aluminums.  Lately I have gone to wood, and use Reparrows to extend the shaft (35").  You could actually use them on both ends, or one after the other to get the length.  Good luck if you need spines in the upper ranges as they are tough to find with any length.....

Thanks, guys!

Not much out there for the long draw guys. Especially if they want to shoot light weight. I guess the shorter draw guess do actually have a benefit in archery.   :biglaugh:

you should be able to get footed POC's in whatever length you need.

I don't think POC are much of an option as there is some stupid regulation as to the maximum length of the shaft that is allowed.(import rules?)..... footing is going to get REAL expensive....

You will have a better chance to get lighter ones than heavies.....my 56 - 60 # bows need a minimum of 85# with 125 on the point at 32" of draw.  Most shafting/head options are moving me to over 100#.......shaft makers are hesitant in the upper spine ranges, but might br more amicable in the lowers as a cut down shaft is still marketable).....
