Dale Dye bows*** thoughts / advise ?NEW BOW PICS
« on: April 06, 2009, 04:16:00 PM »
one of my favorite bows, in fact my primary bow is a Dale Dye Trails end, I have two take-downs and a one piece. I also have one on order and my question is for Dye owners which riser do you prefer, large or small. The standard is the large but the small riser can be had on the 58 and 60 inch bow. My order is for a 60 inch with the small riser but I have become real fond of my 60 inch with the standard 20 inch riser. anybody have any thoughts ?
pictures would be good too, as we all like to look at good pictures.
Thanks !

Hey bud,

I'd opt for the longer riser and shorter limbs. I like the longer sight window, I think the shorter limbs recover faster=less shock, and the additional weight at the center of gravity adds to the stability. Of course you are likely to hear the opposite from some. I faced this decision as well when I was buying a new bow and the bowyer said to stick with the longer riser that I had; that mostly he came out with a shorter riser: "to follow a trend-(he) was after all, a businessman!"      :bigsmyl:

yea Steve , that;s what I am kind of thinking, I had a 58 inch and I really liked it but I seem to shoot much better with the large riser. I prefer small bows and small riser bows but I shoot a recurve with a large riser better, especially while hunting when conditions are not perfect. I need all the help I can get !  The bow I was shooting on our hog hunt was my 60 inch Dye.

I'm a fan of the short riser. The bow on the left is a 58"er the right a long riser 60"er. I shot more robbin hoods with the bow on the left than with all my other bows combined. I'd love to shoot the 60" with the short riser as my draw was a tad long for the 58" bow. Last pic too wide had to link it.

As a owner of 3 with the 4th on it's way this June. I like the longer riser it just seems easier to shoot. Like mention above the larger sight window seems to help. Oh I sent my deposit today for # 5.

The bow I made for myself has Swamprooter limbs on it, Joey was nice enough to let me use his form, good shooting bows no doubt. I talked to him today and he was making some calls, I tried to get him to go hog hunting.

Hey Thomas!  Dales bows are so pretty I would not care what kind of riser he gave me!  Seriously, though I've always liked bigger risers better. I shoot them better for sure.  The two bows are normally shoot, are a Habu and a Dakota by Rick Welch.  I don't have the Dakota anymore, because I auctioned it for a P.B.S. member in need, but I'll be getting another one.  I'm on the list for a new Habu too, and the risers are smaller on the new ones, although they are still pretty big.  My riser on my current Habu is huge and it is made out of Ebony so it's really heavy.  Alot of guys would not wanna drag one up and down mountains, but I spend most of time in a treestand and the heavy weight helps me shoot better.
