Bow cabinet/locker

I just found out that my bows and arrow have to be locked up in order for my wife and I to get licensed for foster care.  My longest bow is a little over six feet unstrung.  Any suggestions for something that would go in the garage.  I would like to be able to at least hang them safely inside it.  Maybe some type of gardening too cabinet?

I bought a tall cabinet from Ikea of all places.  I think its 83inches tall.   Bought the coat hanger bar too. Placed it up high in the cabinet.   Put some lag bolts through the coat hanger bar and some dowels on the lag bolts.  Kinda an upside down T hanging down off the coat hanger bar.  I hang the bows on the T.  I do not have a lock on mine but could put a lock on it in a number of ways.  Mine is in the house.  Also look at some of the garage storage cabinets.  May be more difficult to find a tall enough one.  Good Luck

You could always build you a storage closet ( pick a corner, build 2 walls, put you a door in with a lock on it ) big enough to put all of your gear in.

They reasoning behind all this is that anything that launches a projectile has to be locked up.  I'd like to see a three year old pull back one of my bows let alone string one up.

Look around at the Army Surplus stores, easy to convert the old "military Wall Locker" Cheap and it's made of steel. Good Luck!

Looks like yor heart is big as a bear's.

If it is going in the garage, it might be easy enough to make something out of scrap plywood.  but I like the idea that bowhunterfrom past had as well.

Check out your local used furniture stores for used full length school lockers--lots of height and lockable.They are steel and will prevent rodents from snacking or nesting.

You got a Big Lots store closeby. I just bought two storage cabinets 6'H x 20"D x 29"W. White finish and has shelves included, and a key lock. You could cut the shelves in half,put some "L" shelf brackets to support the shelf in the middle or make your own. Use one side for hanging bows and the other for smaller stuff. I think it was about $50. Same type were about $40 more at Lowes....Hope this helps. Bet you could easily hang 10 to 12 bows using half of it.

but also you might check a state auctions for lockers or metal cabinets etc

You could lock up a closet with a deadbolt installed at the top of the door and safety hinges,(the kind the hinge pins dont come out of). Probably do that for under 40.00 or so. You could probably get by without a coat closet or shallow linen closet. Just a thought. >>>>---->

Tnstickn has a good idea...around here closets are at a premium.
The 'use a corner' idea can be done with 2x2s and 1/2" plywood; and a padlock.

Use a PVC pipe, glue a cap on one end and rig one cap for a lock.  Strap the pipe to a wall or rafters in the garage.

I have the framing done for my new storage area in the garage.  I just have to hang my plywood door tomorrow.  I'll post picture tonight or in the morning.
