Bamboo question
«

OK so i know i have been posting alot lately but for good reason... I'm addicted to the site and love bows
I'm about to order a new set of limbs for my horne combo hunter... my current limbs are 58#
I'm wanting somethin around the mid to high 40's
What will i benefit with going to bamboo verses the mable or osage limbs? There is a definite price increase for bamboo.
I plan on hunting hogs and everything texas has to offer with it. I figured if i can get more performance out of a lighter bow it might be worth it

Probably best to talk to the bowyer. Some say that the core wood has little to do with speed, smoothness, etc... That design is much more important. Others will tell you that such and such core wood performs better in their design...Mike

why do u want to drop the weight ?? I would stay
where i am and use what ur used to shooting. U MAY
get some advantage but I don't think much except
to lighten ur wallet.

I don't see any reason for me to be shooting a bow in this weight right now...after talking to some experts (and I really mean experts!), I am completely confident in shooting 47# unless I decided to hunt a moose. There ain't too many of them down here so i should be fine.
i know my accuracy will improve and I can get my form more solid with a lighter bow. And following simple physics the speed of the bow should not change between them with the same relative arrow
I have decided to go with bamboo after talking to these guys too. ALot of benefits and if i'm planning on keeping this bow i don't want to be kicking myself next year

Your draw weight of 47# is fine. It's usually all I hunt with. I really think the boo is over rated in glass lam bows, but everyone wants it. As a result of demand, it goes in most of my bows. Red elm or walnut cores are supposed to be the fastest, and I believe it.

Bamboo is a great limb wood in deeper core longbows like Hill style bows and others. But I have red elm in more of my longbows past and present, which I think is an excellent limb wood also.

I guess this kind of depends on limbs design too. Each design may take better use of certain woods?
I know a few bowyers swear by it, and apparently ( from your post haha) a few more don't!
