Never forget my first bow... a lemonwood longbow from the Western Auto store, bought with my paper route money... $13.   Brought it home and was shooting off the back porch.  My little brother asked me if I could hit the garbage can.  Having no experience at all, I assumed that if I did, I'd dent it... not a big deal.  Now, this garbage can was what my dad used to run out the outboard when he got home from fishing.  He'd fill it with water and run the motor in it to clear it out.

I drew the bow and let loose... a fine shot... right through both sides of the can and the fence behind it into the neighbor's yard.  I snuck over and recovered the arrow, but I sure had a lot of explaining to do when dad got home to a no longer water tight garbage can!
