Back Yard Slam
«

Can't afford to travel the globe or lay out big $$$ so I'm going to go for the Back Yard Slam. I figure I'm good for Chipmonk, Squirrel, skunk, possum, groundhog/gopher, crow, vole/mole/mouse,(night hunt) weasel, racoon, flying squirrel and then the Marco Polo catagory would be Turkey, Deer, Coyote. I have Black Bear and Bobcat and the occasional Moose but they're not worth the jail time. Don't get me wrong some day I'd like to do the real slam but these will do for now. What will a slam in your back yard produce. It's small stuff but still a pretty heavy taxidermy bill!!

Do we have to leave cats and dogs out of this?
Just kidding!
I like my dog.
With some luck.....groundhog, chipmunk, squirrel, crow, racoon(got that one already), possum, possibly a coyote and I saw three turkeys last week. The turkeys are not real likely to show up again anytime soon though.

Here in Florida, I would include armadillo and buffo frog(a non-native frog/toad? so big you could put a saddle on).

Ours would be red squirrel, grey squirrel, chipmunk, woodchuck, coyoye, red fox, bobcat, muskrat, raccoon, cottontail, snowshoe hare, partridge, and crow.
For big game, it would be, deer, bear, moose and turkey......that's only 17 species, oh well, no commercial endorsments for me.

Squirrel, rabbit, possum, would be a small game slam...
Coyote, bobcat (rare but have seen one)and badger would be a fur bearer slam...
Course, I counted 7 deer the other morning in the full moon light within 30 yards of the house but no other big game in the vacinity that would qualify.
(I'm assuming herefords, holstiens and angus won't count...?)

Ishi I'll have to check out the Catskills some time. I hunt NY for deer on occasion. I know a guy that has property off RT 17. I think when I buy the sportsmans deal I get a bear tag.
Hey Oregon Okie can't you count Big Foot. I thought it was out your way!!

Khumo tires, 10-30 bottles, a vintage '50s Budweiser can (pull tab top), rusted Tonka trucks, a screen door, a broom, and a '57 Chevy flatbed.

Mike, usually every big game license comes with a bear tag...atleast I know resident licenses do. I know where there are a ton of bears, and a lot of state land...
Of course, with the bigfoot issues from last summer...
