I'm sick of my glove
« on: March 20, 2007, 02:23:00 PM »
I hate my super glove the ridges just keep appearing on it. So I'm breaking myself from shooting with a glove by using a calf hair tab it's working good so far.

That's funny...I just went in the opposite direction.  Tab to glove.

I stopped using my super gloves due to the ridges.   A friend (Paradocs) gave me a American Leathers Big Shot to try.  In fact it's what I'm shooting in my picture. I bought a dark brown elk hide one from Tom Parsons, Kimsha archery.  I've been shooting it for three years now.  Still going Strong.  Great glove.  If you don't get the warm fuzzys with the tab try this glove.  3Rivers carries them also.  I bought a extra one as a backup from them.  Have fun.  Jeff

Go bare fingered man! It takes a little bit to build some callouse but I tell ya it's nice to be free of either the glove or tab. My groups improved alot too when I did that and my release is quieter.
Just one more step please!

American Leathers "big shot" special ordered in cowhide works best for me.  It's very durable.

This past week, Tom "TP" Parson gave me his American Leathers Big Shot (Elk Hide) glove that he's been using for 2 years. The more I use it, the more I like it. Very durable glove.

At first it felt so bulky, compared to my damacus, but I'm starting to get used to it and it feels fine now.

For the heck of it, I put my damascus on today and then tried a tab.... I went back to the Big Shot glove. Smoother release with the Big Shot....Mike

I shoot better with a tab due to a bad habit of plucking with my lower finger. Right now my favorite is a Bateman cordovan

I never got the right 'feel' with a glove and use Black Widow Tabs. They hold up well for me.
I have two but thinking of getting a spare   :bigsmyl:  'cause somebody keeps hiding them.   :help:    :archer:

I've tried a glove several times, silly thing is always in my way!

I use a simple single hole target tab, cordovan if I can find it.  When I'm not shooting, it rotates around to the back of my hand and is never in the way.

Black Widow is now offering their tabs in cordovan... I've used their leather tabs for years but this new tab is nicer and should last much longer as well.. Come to think of it I think I'll get a few extra !!!

I am also a fan of American Leathers Big Shot gloves. In the past 7-8 years I have not used any other glove. My first one lasted from 1999ish to about 2003. Got a new one from Tom Parsons at Compton in 2003 and just replaced that one last week with another American Leathers Big Shot in Buffalo. I like this one the best because the finger stalls are longer for my deep hook style. Good gloves and they last long too!

Hold The Phone!...HOLD THE PHONE!...Hey Jim my friend...Please explain what you mean by "ridges" on your Super Glove...I've been using (them) for years with out a mishap...A Super Glove may develope a memory grove from the string and your finger joints...But "ridges" are news to me...

That being said...I do need to try on many before I find a good fitting glove for myself...

Mike they have the groove were the string sets that i don't mind But near the tips the leather seems to push forward and this creates a ridge. The string catches on the ridge and makes for a crummy release. Other than that i like the glove except in cold weather that is why i will shoot with both glove and tab i like a tab in cold weather. I shot compound for 20+ years with a tab they work good.

Thanks Jim...I kinda figured that is what ya meant...Guess I've been luckey so far with the gloves...Still need to try 'em on first...Hard to do with mail order if ya know what I mean...

Say Hello To Your Son For Me!

... mike ...

PS...Forgot to say that I need to fold the velcro wrist strap over once for a snug fit...This kinda pulls the glove tight onto my fingers...Might help you keep it in place...

I'm too much of a wimp for that jeff. I like leather in between my fingers and the string.
