2 string or not 2 string
« on: April 18, 2009, 12:33:00 PM »
I just started shooting a traditional bow last summer, i try to shoot every day so I don't unstring my bows.  Is this bad?  It seems like alot of undue stress re-stringing the bows every day?
Please comment.

Kudo's to this sight I should have joined sooner!!!!

If you're shooting a laminated bow with fiberglass backing, it shouldn't hurt to leave it strung.  Self bows should be unstrung when they're not being used.  Black Widow says leave their bows strung as long as you want to.  I leave the bow strung that I am currently using, and unstring the others.

When I wanted to add traditional bows to have in my bow shop I checked with several bower and found all said one thing, have a bow stringer given to all that buy a bow from you. That most breakage of good bows are caused by stringing a bow without a stringer.

All new bows due to the materials being used can be left strung for long periods without taking a set or loss of poundage.

Matin archery even said one guy had a bow strunk for over 20+ years without a loss of a oz on bow peak weight as measured at 28 inch draw. They said he only would unstring the bow to change to new bow strings every other year...

So I keep all my in stock bows strung, and hung from 2 pegs by the bow string. I take them down after xmas sales etc...

As long as you don't leave it strung in a hot place like a garage or car.The bow I'm shooting everyday or every other I'll leave it strung,no problems.
