alum arrows for recurve
« on: April 19, 2009, 10:05:00 PM »
I am going to make up some Legacy aluminum arrows for my old Kodiak Magnum recurve. It is 40#@28" and I shoot a 28" arrow with a 125 gr. point. The chart says 2018. Does that sound right?

2018  seems on the stiff side to me... i'd lean towards the 1916...

1816 for a 28" arrow with a 125 grain tip.

dave... i thought 1816 too... but i wasnt sure if the magnum was cut to center and would take a tad stiffer arrow....

magwa, don't settle on what a chart says  or what works for others. Your shooting style will determine alot. 1816, 1916, 2016 and 2212 or 2013 if you could find any.

2018 is way stiff. I use 1916 on my bows in the 40's.

1816.
You are pulling less than 28", hence the 28" arrow. so, you are shooting a little less than 40#.

The 1916, which is available in the Legacy, would be OK with a heavier head, 145-160 grains.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. I have Legacy 1916s which I shoot with my 45# longbow. They seem to shoot quite nicely with a 145 gr. field point. It is nice not to have to work up a whole different set of arrows for my recurve.

Actually shooting a 29" arrow, which seems to be just right for the recurve.
