Matt, I sorry you won't be with us this spring as I have a little tribute to Stubby :D When Matt dressed out Stubby, I cleaned up his stub paw
to see how he actually healed up from probably getting his paw caught in a snare...common practice in Canada as bears are considered vermin. He formed a complete and useful callus on the end of his radius & ulna bones. Obviously he did quite well that is until he ran into Matt's arrow!!! I gave Matt the larger callused bone and kept the smaller ulna.
I was really impressed with how well Stubby not only survived but became a very impressive dominate bear. Anyway part of him will be back in La Tuque this spring.
Not finished but I think this blade will come out nicely with Stubby's callus bone handle...Doc
