«

April 22, 2009, 05:10:00 PM »
Just picked up some Vapor Carbonwood 3000 arrows from a fellow Trad Memeber - Was wondering if the compare to Gold Tips and if so which ones...?
Thanks in advance for your response.

I have some Carbonwood 4000's that spine the same as Gold Tip 55/75's.
I also have some Carbonwood 3000's (lighter spine) but don't have any lighter Gold Tips. I believe that 35/55's would be the comparable shaft.

I agree with Whip. I shoot both and they are very similar to the Gold Tip Traditionals in 35/55.

Carbonwoods are no longer being made. The 3000 shafts spine similar to a 55/75 (400 spine). I sold the last of the closeout carbonwoods a couple of months ago.

Thanks for the replies -- saw a few different numbers thrown in - Gold Tip stated they were 400 spine just as BigJim stated ... I take it that the 55/75 is 400 spine also then ?
Thanks

BadgerArrow, that makes sense. I had heard several years ago that CarbonWood "were no longer made" and so I went and bought a bunch. However I noticed they are still available and I was wondering how that worked. I shoot the 4000 and like them alot.

There seems to be a lot of confusion regarding labeling and actual spine of carbon arrows. It's very frustrating.
I've been shooting Vapor Carbonwood 3000s for many years and was very disappointed to see them discontinued. Recently I bought a dozen GT 35/55s and a dozen Carbon Express 150s, thinking they would be very similar in spine to the Carbonwood 3000s. Not so. Both the the GTs and CXs appear to be weaker in spine.
Does anyone knwo the actual defelction of a CX Heritage 150? Is there a website that lists carbon arrow deflections?

The CX Heritage comes in 4 spines
90's = .530 spine 9.3g per inch
150's = .500 spine 10g per inch
250's = .400 spine 11g per inch
350's = .300 spine 12g per inch
Gold tips come in 4 spines
1535's = .600 spine 8.3g per inch
3555's = .500 spine 8.6g per inch
5575's = .400 spine 9.2g per inch
7595's = .300 spine 11g per inch
vapor's
2000's = .500 spine 6.9g per inch
3000's = .400 spine 8.9g per inch
4000's = .350 spine 9.9g per inch

We have a good bit of gold tips, CX Heritage, and vapor 2000 black shafts but carbonwoods are no longer available unless someone has some old stock.

Yea, it's true that some vendors still have Carbonwoods in stock, but at some point they will be unavailable.
Thanks, BigJim. That is exactly what I was looking for. I sure wish Carbon arrow makers would come up with meaningful nomencalture for their arrows. I know exactly what a 2018 is and how it comares to a 2016. But, with carbons there is no common system.

If you look at some of the small print on the 3000's you might see where it says 45-60. I shoot thesae as well out of a 55lb recurve and these shafts appear to shoot a little on the stiff side but shoot good. I have to leave em' full length and put 200grs up front with my 27 1/2" draw.
