Tapered Cedar VS Parallel Cedar ?
« on: March 21, 2007, 11:16:00 AM »
Just wanted to pick the brains of some of you more experienced fellas out there.  I have some old parallel cedars that I am currently shooting out of my Liberty longbow.  At my short draw the weight is 45-47 lbs.  I can't remember what spine these are but they shoot like darts out of this bow.  Problem is I have only 4 of them left.  Was going to order some new but didn't know if tapered is worth the xtra money and what are the advantages?  Thanks, Mark   :knothead:

Tapered recovers faster from Archer's Paradox and promises to be more accurate at the end of the day. Frankly, I shoot both equally well -or poorly. Make sure spine is correct, and point and nock are accurate, and let your budget answer the 'taper' question.

Ive never noticed a real advantage with tapered shafts. I'd rather have the extra shaft weight of a parallel shaft. Think about it. We all shoot aluminum shafts pretty well and they aren't tapered.
Just my 2 cents.
