How trad do you go???
« on: May 06, 2009, 07:30:00 PM »
I personally plan on going as trad as possible more on the primitive side of things. I'm not say stone tools or anything but leaning more towards middle ages type items. I will be going with leather and wool clothes and items. Here is a link with the general idea of what I will be going for.

It reminds me of buckskinning but 200 years prior.  In the east they are recreating the F&I war, Rev war era and in the west they still are doing the mountain man era.

I say do what you enjoy, enjoy what you do, life's short.

That looks Medieval to me. If it's what makes it fun for you then go for it.

Wow - that's getting in to it alright!  If I was going that far back in time I think I would have to bring toilet paper!

Nice!  Not exactly my era of interest, but I'm all for going back and re-creating a simpler time.  Isn't that what 'traditional' archery is all about?

I shoot an osage selfbow and primitive arrows, my  quiver, glove, & arm guard are leather, and I am planning to make myself a nice buckskin outfit as soon as I have the time to tan a few hides.  I think it would be awesome to venture into the woods wearing wool & buckskins, carrying primitive archery gear.  But then, I'm a bit of a cave man  ;)

Go for it... have fun... life is short.

If you dress like that and we see you, we're certainly going to expect a hearty 'What ho!' or 'Welcome to Sherwood!' or something.

I tried so hard not to say anything but that really bothers me.  That reminds me of an article in traditional bowhunter where several guys went hunting naked.  This stuff is freaking me out. How can you stand over a dead animal dressed like that and it not seem like it is cheapend a little. Tape that and put it on the outdoor channel and the world is going to say this is getting out of hand.  I am sorry but that is how I feel.
