"Thicker" leather to build up grip...a little?

I love my new LB....and it was sent to me EXACTLY as I asked for it.

I'm thinking, now, I want the grip to be a tad bit larger.

Can I simply replace the thin leather with a thicker piece and take care of it? (seems simple enough)

Is there a better method?  

If this method is easiest.....where might one find some thicker brown leather material for a bow grip?

yup, I had a friend help me change the shape of a grip on a longbow I purchased used with his sander he uses on his bows. We gripped it with really thick leather and it really makes a difference bulking up the grip size. I know he is not using much of it so if you are interested in purchasing a piece from him he may sell some to  you. I don't know. He is a sponsor here, Jim at Whisperstik bows. It sounds like he doesn't use it very often and I don't know how much he has. Worth a shot.

It would be easier to just add another grip over the original.  I get around 1/4" more circumference when I wrap one with leather.

You can go over a sure grip with your leather or try a Beaver tail, but what Apex said is probably the easiest & cheapest ... Good Luck ...

Not exactly the method you are thinking of but it could be used as an alternative, more permanent method.  If the back of your handle is fairly flat, you can round it out this way and gain a good bit in size and generally, a lot in comfort.

You could also do it other places on the grip where you want to add material and you might end up with something kinda cool looking.  If not, cover the altered handle with a wrap and nobody will know.

Thicker leather or an additional wrap would be the best and less permenant.  If you don't like it or want to sell the bow later it would be nice to be able to put it back to original.
