I agree with you, I am leaning toward the GWW too. I spoke with Jeff late last year and as promised he sent me a care package with samples of his material and a catalog. YEP,  lots of $$$ for huntin duds, but I am 45 now so whatever I buy from Jeff should last me, then I can hand down. I think I will go with the 27oz fabric and be done with it. Not too many times in the stand have I been too hot, but many times wished for a tad more warmth.

Come on guys and gals keep it coming I am on another pot of joe now.......

I just recieved ASAT WOOL Parka and Bibs from Day One.  Quality is excellent IMO, delivery was within a week of stated.

I got samples from both GW and Day one and I also saw the GW at Kalamazoo.  They are very, very close in my mind...not close enough to pay 2x more, not this guy anyway.  

I really like the high back collar on the day one parka, loaded with pockets, sleeve tighteners on both arms, XXL, etc. all without any extra $$

Bibs have thickly lined handwarmer pockets, 2 cargo + 2 but + 2 crossdraw chest pockets, zippered legs. These bibs are cut HIGH to the top of your chest and back, you will have a double layer of insul/windx/wool on your torso.

I'm very happy with it, and will buy again from Gary.

I have some of both. I have pants & the pullover in the 18oz stuff for out west & early season hunting. I have a jacket with the liteloft & pants in the heavyweight 27oz for treestand & late season hunting. I have a heavyweight plaid wool shirt that Jeff makes that I wear all the time.

 Last year I bought a wolfskin pullover for turkey & warm weather hunting. The pullover in both materials is my favorite piece of gear.

I am very happy with all of them & unless I get fat(er), I am set for life. Oh and yes, we have established that dayone is cheaper.

I have both Dayone and Gray Wolf.  I agree with others- both are quality products though my story with Dayone is similar to others-service is not their strong suit.

I have a Northwoods button up jacket in wool- though it is not "custom", it is probably the best piece of clothing I own.  Don't pass up their Northwoods products-incredible quality.

I wish Graywolf did the ASAT.

Given my experience, the water "experiment," and other factors mentioned here- I think Gray Wolf gets a solid "A" while Dayone gets a "B".

I have a lot of Day One cotton and Fleece...but only Gray Wolf wool for me.  I've got some pants and a pull over I bought 6 years ago and both still look brand new.  

Not familiar with Day One's wool...but the Gray Wolf is good stuff for sure. Top notch wool, construction and weave.  I would be caught dead without it.

I have both. Both are top notch. ASAT is hard to beat. Dayone has ASAT, Grey Wolf does not. But Predator is a great pattern too. Depends what you pattern want.
If you get Dayone in light fleece ASAT and then Day One ASAT wool, you have both warm and cold weather covered.
Being from Michigan where it can get quite brisk, my wool is XXL and I always layer with Under Armor cold gear and then Wool Power and then a fleece union suit over that anyhow, when really cold for late season.
Picking between Dayone wool and Grey Wolf wool is like picking between a Ford or Chevy pickup. Either way you should be in good shape.

I have a set of Predator green Wolfskin from 10 years ago when it was Hidden Wolf. The stitching has held up 100% thru probably a hundred or more washings. That kind of quality is hard to find these days.

My Bison Gear pack is made of Predator brown wool from Gray Wolf. I believe the above test in water holds true. It takes a lot of rain for a long time to soak into the liner of the pack.

After looking more closely at the fabric (?wool?)Dayone sent me and the way it acted in the water and by the amount of stretch it had that maybe it was mislabeled.  I have since contacted Gary and am awaiting samples and after recieving an email it appears the sample he sent me was probably a rough looking piece of fleece.  That could explain why it looked so much cheaper than the graywolf.  I guess until I actually get my hands on the real wool samples from Dayone I'll have to wait and see.  All previous postings in regards to quality testing my have been false due to a rough looking mislabeled piece of fleece.  I hope I am wrong about dayone and their wool is much more comparable, so I can save some money on my clothes$$$$$$$$$

Sorry for taking many of the Tradgang users on a misinformed ride due to possibly miss-labeled sample.
