« on: March 22, 2007, 06:33:00 PM »
Well Charlie wanted to see some pics of my hunting area so I took the ACS CX for a walk this morning looking for some pigs. Found some sign but no pigs. But was a great morning anyway. Here are the pics.

On the way in

still on the trail

they had this area tore up but it was not fresh

sat here for a while watching and listening

more next post.

Been to Guam a couple times on Navy Detachments and hunted Hawaii which is real similiar in terrain but no snakes.

Stick a big one for a retired Navy Chief.

Wow, not much for shooting lanes in that stuff is there?  Bet you don't get to far from the road.  Beautiful plants though!

Is that in Dallas. Cuz that looks like the jungle. Cool pics. I'm about an hour south of you and my terrain don't look anything like that. Awesome. Justin

Actualy Whip, where I hunt the most there are no roads. Out my back door and into the jungle which goes for miles. I have been over most of it. Just gotta go slow and watch your footing. My wife's cousins own most of the property and let me hunt when I want. And nope ya gotta pick you shots but where I sit up I try and have a couple of lanes out to bout 10/15 yards. Cannot shoot much further than that anywhere here, too thick.

What part of the island? I spent 15 months at Anderson in my other life. We used to boonie stomp, looking for hold-outs, and coconut crabs. There was a few piggies on the island.

Beautiful photos Danny.  Thanks for sharing.  It's still gray and bleak here in northern Illinois.  Stickbows unite all of us one way or the other.

Isn't that the place that's supposed to be covered up with snakes?  Those areas you posted pics of sure look snakey to me....
Nice pics though.

No, we are not covered up in snakes. There is an introduced snake here, the Philippine brown tree snake which has decimated the native bird population, but you hardly ever see one. I have never seen one in the jungle. Killed a total of 3 around the house since 1989.

Great pictures Danny. Your jungle is thicker than what I deal with. Is it very wet?

Hey Jerry,

Normally it is pretty wet, but right now we are in a bit of a dry spell. Used to be ya could go in and you would find clearings and such but since the last big storm blew the tops off of most of the big trees the under growth has sprung up and in places ya just cannot get through.
