First turkey
« on: May 12, 2009, 09:42:00 AM »
Well he may not be as nice a looking bird as some I have seen on this site...but he's my first! A Surewood Shaft arrow shot out of my Blacktail bow did the job.

Thanks to Oregon Okie for sharing his spot. We had fun. Have to do it again Russ!

I still have to do it the first time... I've been seeing how often I can hear the alarm putt without ever killing a turkey. Still have a few more chances. Thanks for showing me how it's done.

Not much of a story...Russ and I arrived at his friends property. We set up and I did some box calling. Got several gobbles from the direction of the back of his property. Then they appeared. They were hesitant to come in...until the guy fired up his tractor. Then they started running in! They came toward our decoy and at 15yds. I lead this bird about a necks worth....BAM! (as Dennis would say) I had to put another arrow in him to finish the job...they are tough birds! Thanks again Russ! The next turkey hunt is on me. I have another spot we need to check out.

Snag,

Congratulations!  The turkey is probably the toughest kill with a stickbow we can take on.  Great job!!

Congrats on the bird. I guess you won't be needing any more primaries  :D

BlacktailBowhunter, now I wouldn't say that! An arrowmaker can always use primaries!    haha!
