First trad turkey and first trad kill
« on: May 13, 2009, 11:40:00 PM »
Well add me to the list. I made my first kill with a bow and arrow today. Got a jake that was probably the smallest in the bunch but I'm happy to have made the shot. It was raining too so the bird is wet in the pics and looks a little rough. I had a setup with a decoy and all but ended up with a sort of ambush shot and took the first one that came into view. First kill for my Firefly - 50lbs at 30". Used an aluminum shaft with a Bullhead. I had missed a few shots with it and was losing confidence in the head but it definitely did the job where it hit this guy.

That is great. I missed one at 6 yards. I could have used the Bullhead on that shot LOL.

If you need help thinning the population, I'll be in that area this weekend   :D

BTW if you and Snag are not going to use the wing bones, I would like to get them from you.

I make wing bone yelpers and donate them to the hunting organizations in Oregon for oral auctions.

Congratulations, Russell!  Nothing wrong with a Jake, and they eat GREAT!  Is that the Bullhead cut I see just below his beak?

"Oregon Okie": isn't that one of those oxymoron things?

Never thought of it that way Fletcher but I guess O.O. is oxymoronic. Maybe they just cancel out or something.
Yup, Bullhead about "ear" to throat.
Thanks to all.

I've been waiting for a success thread with a Bullhead.  I put mine over the top of a longbeard's shoulder.    "[dntthnk]"
