I shot a 3 piece of Leons this weekend and was really impressed with it(longbow). Anyone have one of these. Comparing one of these to a Prongorn also. Thanks. BILL

I bought one this weekend.
It was a one-piece, though.
Never shot a Pronghorn.

Killy, which one of the one piece bows did you get? Leon is a great guy to deal with.Bows are top notch.

craftsmanship= leon stewart,preformance=pronghorn,smoother draw,less handshock,stewart,faster,quieter,which is somewhat of a contidiction because as a rule the faster bow is harder to quieten down.i'v owned 3 of each.

Leon Stewart's three piece Slammer longbows, outstanding craftsmanship, flat shooter and whisper quiet. As said above, Leon is a top notch craftsman and great guy to deal with.

Didn't shoot any, but the Bows he had at the Baltimore shoot this weekend were "Stunning" to say the least ...

I shoot a slammer with both 48 pound and 59 pound limbs. No hand shock, excellent speed, real flat shooters and soud identical to me. However, even with 10 gran per pound of draw or better and even with Leon's own string, my bows are still "punky". I guess they are not real lound, but I have shot long bows that are so dead quiet the slammer sounds pretty loud to me. That said, even teh 48 pounder really spits an arrow. I know guys who shoot Black Widow bows and they seem as loud or louder and I think the Slammer is a better bow. Widow shooters don't seem to have a problem killing deer, so I guess the noise in "my head".

I still think they are loud bows.

I have shot alot of high end longbows and once I bought a slammer I stopped trying to find the perfect longbow. I have three now and they are the best. I would love a short Td slammer for blinds, but other than that I couldn't be happier.

Ed, I got a Slammer, it is 50# @ 28", so roughly 46 at my draw. I like having bows that will all shoot the same arrows!

I've shot one or two of Maxwell's Slammers and let me tell ya they are shooters!
Very smooth and hard hitting. Gonna get me one sooner or later!

Pics would require a working knowledge of computers- alas, that is not gonna happen, the technology alone is mind boggeling. I will say I've got some beaut's - especially the double shelf slammer TD.

AT this point I have four of Leon's bows and one more on order. One of them is a RH bow that I bought before my eye surgery forced me to move to LH; it's so beautiful that it will stay with me until my grandson is big enough to handle it and appreciate it then it will be his. The other three I shoot regularly. They're fast, quiet and superbly made. You can't do better. Leon is a superb craftsman and a great guy to deal with.

I have a Leon Stewart 64" 3-pc. 49 lbs. @ 28", and a Pronghorn 62" 3-pc. 48 lbs. @ 28". I love both of these bows, excellent craftmanship on both, and both Leon and Herb Meland are super men to deal with. Both of these bows are very quiet, but I think the Pronghorn is more so. Good luck on your choice.
