Don't beat yourself up Tom.  It was an honest mistake and any of us would be a bit out of whack to lose a prized bow.  I'm sure only a few know who the good samaritan is and everyone can understand that he did the right thing - so I can't see anyone's record being tarnished in this.  On the contrary it is a very positive outcome.  I can say that in all confidence because I wouldn't be offended if I was the one that found it.

Of course you thought it was stolen.  Just like I accuse my wife of losing my gear all the time.  It never occurs to me that I had an out of body experience and put it somewhere that it shouldn't go.  Thank Heaven she has a thick skin or I'd be toast at least once a week.  I believe a good man can see as much humor in it as my wife could.

I'm sure he will understand Tom.  I only mentioned it because he was pretty concerned when he called me.  It looks like I am right around the corner from you.  If you want, let's zip on out to the Three Trails range and fling a few - see how that puppy shoots.

Bring the tick juice - one nearly took my leg off last Sunday night!

TommyBoy,

I'm leaving Lenexa right now. Will be home in about one hour.  I'll have my cell with me when I get home. I can be out at the range about 6 PM,or any time after that.

I agree about how things are worded. If he had left the bow where he found it the bow may have been stolen. By an honest man picking the bow up you left behind and looking for the rightful owner he did you an great favor.I would be sure  to let him know how much you appreciate him returning the bow, you lost and he was so good to look for the owner.  Ben

Glad you are getting your bow back.
Maybe you should edit the title of this post?

Well, the bow is going back to its owner, thanks to an honest, upstanding person.   :bigsmyl:

Anyway, a HUGE "Atta boy" for the gentleman who looked for, and found this bows rightful owner.

I think you should be sent to your room without supper for leaving your bow lay around.

Update.  We met last evening shook hands & my bow was returned unharmed and with some more "spirit of the hunt" mojo from being in the hands of a stand-up man.  I apologized.  It was an easy apology that he gracefully accepted.  We then went shooting on a 3D range in the woods with another traditional club member (pasr president, now secretary).  I even took a couple test shots on his bow and he flung a couple with mine. Three Trails Traditional Archery Club in Greenwood MO will soon have a new due paying member.

Almost sounds like losing the bow could turn out to be a blessing in disguise!  New friendships could end up being be more valuable than a bow!

Glad it turned out well.

A guy who returns a found a bow, and guy willing to admit he handled something poorly... two rare things indeed. Sounds like the makings of a friendship. Glad it worked out.

you meant no harm at one person...my bow was stolen was a general statement that had  no particular direction to it..aimed at no one in general...so i see no reason why the guy should get his nose bent when the comment was not aimed or intended for him.   my2c
