Lets hear it, and see it, if ya got one of these. Or if ya just wanna show off your Shrew bow, I cant seem to get enough of oooh and awwwe!! Thanks>>>>-----> Greg

I have a carbon-backed,  bambo core Classic Hunter coming very soon.  In speaking to Ron, he said there is no added value to carbon on the belly side. I am having the carbon placed under Osage veneers.  I'll post pics and impressions when I get it.  I'd also be interested in other folk's reports.

I have a 51#@28 Classic Hunter 56" long with carbon and bamboo. I just got it this winter, so I have not hunted with it yet. I have been trying a variety of arrows, have not settled on one particular type. I have some woodies on order. I like shooting it very much and expect it will perform well. Seems to be smooth and quick enough. I can say I like the grip on this bow better than any of my other 8 bows.

TTT for a good fella. Help him out guys, he has one on order and every time I see him he knows the months left until he gets "the call."

How long do you have to wait for your name to come up?  I made a deposit to get me on the list around the end of June last year, so my number should be coming up soon too.

I have a carbon limbed foam core classic hunter with the curly birch veneers, bow bolt takedown and elk horn tips. I like it about as much as you can possibly imagine. I've had it for a few months and have not yet taken a picture of it.  I will try to do that and post a picture for you maybe this weekend.

Bird Dog

I've got a 56" classic hunter-carbon 49#@28.
carbon on the back and belly with a bamboo core,
Bocote riser and horn tips. It's a dream to shoot.
I think I waited for a little over 10 months for delivery.

WestTnMan knows I love my Shrew!!! Thanks Bro!!

Mo Sherpa, I have been waiting now for 9 months. I was told 10-12, but I know how life gets in the way of things sometimes. We are in good hands with Ron and Javaman towin the line!! I ordered a carbon limbed foam core also with the bow bolt. Have yet to decide on limb tips or veneers.

Bird Dog,do you have any veneers over the carbon or is it just under the glass?

Thanks guys!!>>>>------> Greg

My foam core, carbon backed Shrew Classic Hunter and my foam core Lil Favorite with Bow Bolts are not going to be built until at least July, but I do have the first foam core Shrew ever built (a Classic Hunter), and it is great. The foam cores add some speed and some smoothness. My foam core Classic Hunter is one of my favorite bows. I expect the carbon backing to add performance without sacrificing the other desirable characteristics of the bow. I am very excited to get a bow similar to the one Missouri Sherpa already has. He is a very fortunate archer! I own 7 Shrews, and have one in the mail to me and two on order, so I will soon have a total of 10. They are all great bows.

Allan, sounds like ya got a great collection goin. Ya gotta feel good having the first carbon Shrew!! I went with the carbon and foam after hearing that it added a little speed and smoothness to an already great design. This will be my first takedown. I got three kids and love takin a bow where ever I go, it'll make it alot easier to pack up for road trips. Do you have carbon under glass or are there veneers over the carbon? >>>>-----> Greg

I shot a carbon foam Shrew at the K-zoo show in January.....HOLY MOLY!!!! It was in the high 40's if I remember right and threw an arrow like a 55#'r. It weighed about as much as two 600 grain arrows.
Just one more step please!

Greg,

I have the first foam core Shrew, not the first carbon backed Shrew. Gregg Coffey has been putting carbon on the backs of bows for some time now.

I have several of Bob Morrison's bows with foam core limbs and some of those have carbon backing too. Both Bob and Gregg can put exotic wood veneers on top of the carbon backing, but then they are unable to apply a layer of clear fiberglass over the veneers. Instead, the veneers have the same sprayed on finish that is on the wood risers. This may not be quite as protective as the fiberglass, but it works just fine for me, and the limbs look awesome with the fancy veneers.

The Classic Hunter I will get this July will have foam cores, carbon backing and exotic hardwood veneers. The Lil Favorite will have foam cores, hardwood veneers and clear fiberglass over the veneers. Because the recurve limbs on the Lil Favorite are thinner from the bellies to the back than the longbow limbs, carbon backing actually hurts performance rather than enhancing it, and the smoothness of the limbs suffers too. So carbon backing is not a good option on the recurve limbs until you get into higher poundage bows where the limbs need to be thicker anyway.

Shrews are not known to be really fast bows, but with foam cores and/or carbon backing, they will be very competitive with many of the faster bows on the market.

Gotcha Allan, I miss read.

Arwin, thats the bow that sparked my interest in the carbon/foam combo. I think this is the bow. It might have boo cores though. Look familiar?
