finally got a shot and missed the long beard! i find turkeys hard to pick a spot on. they have so many ways of looking: smooth as glass, feathers ruffled up. what spot do you all pick most often? i'm thinking the end of the feathers on the neck! either kill or miss but at least i'd have a spot to focus on from any direction or pose.

I like them real close, then you can see the variation of color in the feathers. If there real close your spot will appear, exercise patience and let them come close.

First take a look at the legs, then let you eyes move straight up from them. Mid way on the body right above the legs and you had a dead bird everytime. Always think "Legs".

I'm just happy I finally got an arrow in one this year. To be honest I can't remember drawing and shooting. But the arrow went where I was looking. Like acolobowhunter said, follow the legs up and let 'em fly.

I missed a jake and a longbeard within 25 seconds on the 9th of May...I'm still after them.
Good luck!

I put an arrow right under the hip of a bird walking away from me... I know the heartache.
