Been out of the office for a few days, finally got a chance to visit the gang again.
John, I know the feeling about the sports issues.
With 3 kids, this is my schedule...
April-July, little league, coaching 2 teams and a board member (ie: work like a dog on fields sat/sun, and running tournaments)
May-Sept, golf league on Tues nights
Aug-Oct, coach sons rocket football team
Oct-Dec, coach daughters middle school basketball team
Jan-March, coach other daughters winter b-ball team
The hardest part- the 20 minute drive from home to the school just about every night, sit down family meals are hard to come by...
The best part- being able to help not only my kids, but all the single family home kids that need the extra attention.  I really enjoy being a parent that kids can look up to and seeing them grow and excel when they get the opportunity.
The other big reason for the summer softball league- my 12 year old daughter has some exceptional talent pitching.  Don't want to boast on my part, my wife has spent many hours in the backyard with her.  She has been going to a pitching coach this winter and he routinely sends 8 or more of his players on to play college ball.  He has let us know that she is one of the top 5 pitchers he has coached in the last 40 years for her age.  She has the dream of playing for MSU or Michigan, and has some very good potential, so we are trying to help her be successful at it.  Growing up in this small town, my father and his brothers were good athletes (dad played small college b-ball), my older brother was a freshman starter at qaurterback, shortstop, and guard for the varsity teams, myself and younger brother were 3 sport athletes all 4 years as well.  We kinda have a local reputation for being good athletes.  I just want my kids to have the chance to do what they want in sports, and have someone coaching that cares about them, and teaches them the proper fundamentals of each game.  They will benefit from it when they get to high school. Our school system is located in one of the poorest counties in the Michigan and anything I can do to help the kids grow and show them they can be good at something will help them in the future (all the kids).  I wouldn't change any of it right now, yeah, I certainly get tired at the end of seasons, but after a week or two break, I am ready for the next one to start....
PS, I did convince the wife to purchase a used motor home a month ago, we need it to travel to Lyndsay's softball tournaments, and go camping on weekends.....
I did sneak it out Saturday night for a steelhead fishing trip with 2 buddies and 4 teenage boys.  It was a great time and provided some well needed space for our 4 hour snooze break, that counts as camping I think

I 'spose that depends on how you define "OK" ...

Happy belated John. You're proof that good guys really DO finish first!

Don't even wanna hear it....

Got three 17 year old daughters.  Been runnin' my butt off for the last 12 years gettin' 'em to all their sports and activities.  Only good thing about the whole deal is that it's almost done with...

Oh, and I got three of the best dang kids you could ever hope for.
