A complaint about bow pics

It seams everyone wants to show off their riser and handle sections as if the eye candy is all that matters. It is certainly where the beauty of the wood combo and craftsmanship are most evident (along with the tips), but it says nothing about the type of bow or what kind of performance to expect. I stay pretty up-to-date on whats out there, but theres always something new. How are we supposed to know what it is if all you show us is the handle?

What's it take to see a strung and unstrung profile around here?   :rolleyes:   :D  

People who are as concerned with function as form would be greatfull.

It's hard to get a full pic of a bow.  When you do, you can not see the details.  So, a up close of the riser is what it takes.  Most people do explain how the bow shoots and type of arrows used.  I bet if someone was to ask for another pic the person will gladly post one.

I appreciate it when the person posting shows the whole bow along with the detailed pictures also.  I also like to see the bow strung and un-strung. Often times I find myself going to the bowers web site or Google images looking for a full picture of the bow being discussed.

Same here, Gate.

I realize theres no detail in the profile shots, but they can tell us alot more about how the bow might shoot than the wood color can. I have seen several pics of bows that I was really curious about. Beautiful handles, but for all we know the limbs could have been toilet paper backed spagetti noodles, with tiller that looks like a bananna. Sure enough, everyone will comment on how it looks like a great bow. Handles make a difference in shootablity, but limbs are what make a bow, a bow.

Sorry, just a little harmless rant. Certainly dont want to raise hackles.

I agree with Bear. All I ever want to see is the riser/grip and a pic of the bow strung.

I like to see the bow profile, strung and unstrung, to see the amount of R/D and curve in the tips.

I enjoy seeing both.   :)   I do have an affinity for exotic wood, as I am guessing most folks with the "traditional gear affliction" do...so I love seeing those beautiful risers.

If it's a longbow I just need to see if it's got a longbow handle and if its got that "D" when strung. Otherwise I'm not that interested!     :bigsmyl:

'Bout time one of these posts popped up!   :biglaugh:  I'm with Bear/Gates on this one. If you can show one of the up close detailed pics, then show us one of the profiled strung/unstrung pics. No offense to anyone of course.   :D

I hope this makes you happy.  64" NTN, 54lbs. at 27".  Wenge and Zebra riser with red and black phenolic accents.  The limbs are maple core with double carbon.

it's really no big deal to snap full size pix of bows strung and unstrung ... set 'em, get up on a chair, fire away, edit yer pix and post them in no wider than 640! ...

When I post a bow I like at least 6 shots as follows:  Close up of whole riser front, riser back, limb veneer close up, tip close up, full length strung, and full length unstrung if anything but a straight profile longbow.
