Bowfishing Weekend
« on: May 25, 2009, 09:45:00 PM »
Friday after work I rushed home to hook up the boat and grab my gear. I was on my way to pick up a friend and to meet six others for a weekend of bow fishing. After a 3-1/2 hour trip we got to the river as the sun was setting not to return to the lake house until the sun made its next appearance.

Saturday found us throwing cornhole bags and enjoying some refreshments most of the day and around 5 pm we chunked, battered and dropped some spoonbills into some hot grease, boy were they tasty. After that it was back to business.

We shot our limit of spoonbill catfish the second night. The fish were everywhere an amazing time as usual for this top secret spot. A great two nights of bow fishing with good friends. Weather cooperated and we were in fish non-stop all night both nights.

A fun weekend for sure. I love to see guys shooting those bigheads and silvers.

Very cool, TJ. Never mind the top secret spot but how about telling us what river you were at? Ohio? Mississippi? I've never eaten Spoonies but I hear they're delicious. Great pics, man.

Hey Doug, we were on the Ohio. They are very good indeed. We've been going to this spot for 8 years now and it's amazing how the fish are multiplying. Each year we see more fish.

I have a friend who snags Spoonies. He brings spoonbill fillets to deer camp, marinates and grills them. I call em ghetto swordfish. I've also eaten them cubed and fried. They may look ugly but are plain delicious. I've never heard of bowfishing for them before. thats cool.

It's not that "top secret of a spot"  Hehe, I know exactly where that is at!!!  Nice fish, looking forward to shooting some this weekend and hopefully the following at the Campbells Challenge as well.  Mark

The longer that I'm on TG, the more I want to move down south or out west. You people get to have all of the fun.  I do have to say that your deer are better looking than you fish though.  Them are some butt ugly fish.  I have a cajun deep fryer if you want to send some this way!!!  JD
