Man!!  That's a nice one!  Dead bigheads are the best kind.

Curt you shoot one, grab the line and hope you aren't standing on a slick spot. 7 broken fiberglass arrows the day before. One of my buddies got a bath after one drug him about 10 yards when he grabbed the line. I know I shouldn't find humor in that but man was it funny. Ive shot hundred of them from my boat but this eye to eye spot and stalk method with the waves crashing is an exhilarating rush thats for sure.

That looks like alot of fun.  From what I have read, bigheads are filter feeders and therefore have a nicer flesh than common carp.  Do you eat them?
Take a kid hunting!

John I've never tried them. I do like the very white and mild meat in the spoonbill catfish though.

I know what kind of "paaaar" it takes to snap a fiberglass shaft.  Those suckers must be STRONG!

I'll say it once again Tom!   Ya'all have way too much fun down south.   I know that you haven't tried eating them, but that is a years worth of eating in one fish.  I saw fish that big once.  I think that it was in the movie "jaws".  JD

Excuse my ignorance, but are these the type that jump out of the water into boats?
Luck has nothing to do with it, just Boot leather and a GWP.

The fish the good looking guy in the white shirt is holding up is in the low 30 pound range. We've shot them pushing 60 pounds and I'm sure they even get larger than that.

Anaconda, no those jumpers would be the Silver carp. We have them as well.
