I just thought that I would post some pics of my first night time bowfishing trip.  Many thanks to Matt for taking me along.  It was definitely some of the most fun that I have ever had on a lake.

It was a great time.  Matt has a great set up with and outboard jet motor, generator, lights, and a platform up front.  My wife was waiting at the door for me when I came in at 2:30 in the morning.  I told her that I would be home about midnight, but lost track of time.  If both trolling motor batteries wouldn't have ran low it would've been even later.  JD

Shooting at night is magical, ain't it? So much to see, and your hunting too. Looks like you hooked up with the a guy who has the right set-up to make it even more fun. Congrats.

cool looking limbs on that kajika!  that fish looks similar to an eelpout.  sounds like your wife was worried about ya...better not tell her you want to bear hunt from a pit blind!

Nice J.D. we don't have those kind of fish down here. Are they eatable?

Tom-  he fish are only eatable to racoons and beaver.  It would be nice if they were.  Some people might try to eat them, but they have to have pretty numb taste buds.  JD

Jim, that looks like more fun than the chuck hunting I was telling you about!!   :clapper:

Grindel, prehistoric fish, With a mouth full of teeth! TJ, you probably have them just don't see them. We have them in the Wabash and it's tributaries. Good shootin, Steve

Overspined

Jim didn't mention that we had a couple of shots at carp, which are rare on this lake, and the size of basketballs right now. Jim had a monster on but I think he pulled him in too hard and it got off!

So after seeing the carp, we were ready for some big fish and almost drew on some very large snapping turtles, but the funniest thing was when I yelled not to shoot as we were both drawn on an unidentified "fish" that shot out from some cattails in front of the boat at a rapid pace. As it swam away Jim said "Do you know how many silencers I could have made from that thing?"  Of course, it was a 30# beaver! Poor critter doesn't know how close he came to collateral damage..lol.

Overspined

Oh yeah, and Jim didn't mention how much practice it takes to shoot about 3 ft down in the water! He said he hopes he doesn't get in the habit of shooting under deer expecting a hit!

Good times, good times! Looks like a blast, I STILL haven't been bowfishing yet! I need to give this a try!
