Newly acquired Kerner longbow...now with pics.
« on: June 10, 2009, 03:13:00 PM »
I recently made a trade for a sweet little bow.
Between the federal government hiring process, work, daddy duty and trying to keep up with yard work and such, I havent shot it nearly as much as I would like.
It is 56", has some groovy limbs(I think they are called cammed?), BEAUTIFUL skins, and some really nice wood. It is marked 44#@27", but I could swear it was close to 52-53 at my 28" draw...

I plan on shooting it some tomorrow when a buddy stops by. So far, it doesnt care if the arrows are wood, carbon or aluminum...they zip!

Anyone with info on Kerners, please feel free to enlighten me. In the meantime, I will take pictures in a bit... Thanks in advance.

Me thinks the company that "took over" Kerner is Allagany (spell check) Bows. They where at the  Whittingham shoot this past April.

YOOO Hammer that's correct . Bill sold his stuff [jigs etc, etc] to Jeff and Jan Strauss at Allegheny Mt Bows right here in Sparta N.J. I just got a Bud Started shooting Trad and he ordered a new one. Best part is he went and had Jeff custom make the handle to his hand. Nice Folks nice bows. Quiet and fast, great grip. Bamboo, southpaw, and Joe Skipp I believe are familar with the bows of Bill Kerner[spelling]. The web site is allegheneymtbows.com. Sig Borstadt in McAfee N.J.  sells Jeff's bow too.

Im hitting rather well so far...just about three or four inches high until I shoot further than 20-25 yards...guess I need to reprogram the brain a bit.

Brown actionwood wood be my guess.

Nice looking bow, it looks to have the multi-cam limbs like Bill Stewart bows.

Congrats!

Congrats Jamie! I like it! Skins look great. After shooting your last bow, I would think that this one would feel like 22# instead of 52!  :archer:

Those are some beautiful tips!  Are they just actionwood and clear glass, or do you know?

Apex, as you turn the tips sideways, you can see through them-below the wood. Some of the neatest tips I have seen on a bow.

Brian..let me know. I go full time on the 18th and will most likely be as close to useless as possible after that. And it does feel rather light after that last monster...still cant believe how well I could shoot it(the monster that is) though...even if it did hurt. LOL.

Now that you guys say action wood....I would have to agree.

I might be done getting bows soon...  :D
