G5 small game head
« on: June 16, 2009, 12:31:00 AM »
is it available in 250gr or is it still in the realm of lightweight wheel bow arrows?

they sure look like the ticket. i bought some as a gift for a friend at home in oz. 125gr doesn't cut it for me though.

I used them a bunch last season, they fly great and hit hard. I busted a couple and G% replaced them for free. Awesome customer service! I don't have any idea if they are making any heavier heads, I used the 125 grain, with weighted inserts!

I wonder if you could call them up and ask for a heavier version...one of the big suppliers needs to get them on the Trad band wagon with heavier heads.

They are wicked heads and I'd love a 150 to 200 grain version.

I have to admit with the new 75/50 grain break apart HIT inserts I can make a few arrows up that the 125 grain versions will work with. But it would be nice to just screw one on your current set-up.

I love the SGH.  125 gr with 100 gr inserts.  I didn't know they'd replace them if broken!?  I'll have to give that a try.

I agree with ozy, try them hammers if you need something heavier.

Guys they only make them in the 125 as posted, and there aren't any plans for a heavier one at this time.  This head is actually my design and I asked for heavier options when we first started the prototypes. Cost factor always wins out on that.  I suggest weighting them up like other methods for heads and enjoy shooting them.

I was looking at a gut hook on a knife one day when this head design hit me.  I coupled the fact that most all small game dies most efficiently by blunt force trauma, and the addition of hemoragic trauma in the mix makes for a more humane kill.

Glad to see you guys like them.  I quip that SGH is for Sudden Gobbler Headache!

Good hunting!

I had good luck on squirrels with the one I had attached to a Herritage 250 carbon. It will flat out kill squirrels dead. Then, a couple of weeks ago, I took a shot at a leaf on the ground out in my yard and the shaft busted right behind the insert. The claws from the head dug into the ground, or grass roots and that was that. Had the shaft been footed with a piece of aluminum, I don't think it would have happened.
