Help with new Bow Name(s)
« on: June 16, 2009, 10:00:00 AM »
This weekend at Compton, my buddy and I will be picking up our new Tall Tines recurves.  These are the first commercially made bows from Brian Wessel (TallTines here on Trad Gang).  Brian has been making his own bows for a long time and has taken some incredible animals with them.  These bows are the only bow I have ever shot that are equal to my Silvertips.  To tell you how much I think of them, my buddy Gary is a lefty and I am making him put in his will that his bow of our matched set is going to go to my son (another lefty which messed up my hand-me-down plan) when he goes to the happy hunting grounds...and Gary has a Cocobolo Double Carbon Vyperkhan I could have done the same thing with!

Anyway, I'm having trouble with naming the mirrored set so I thought I would throw it out for some help from the creative geniuses here...

The bows have Cocobolo risers with Tulipwood limbs, the wood for which I purchased from my friend Mike Pyeatt at Rosewood Archery.

One is a RH the other LH.

We plan to use them on next fall's Alaskan Bear Adventure we are planning...stalking the salmon streams of POW for blackies

Gary is my best hunting buddy.

So now you have the background, how about a little help with names for the pair to tie it all together!

Dave,

I am going to have to look that one up...

We had thought about something like "Brothers of the Bow II" or "Nephews of the Bow" or "Junior BOTB"   :D  , but that is a very special group of guys and I don't want to infringe on their bond.

Vermonster got to it first!   :notworthy:
I was SO disapointed when I scrolled down and saw that.
(btw, Castor & Pollux are the twins of Greek myth immortalised in the consttellation Gemini. But shortening them to "Pull" & "Cast", pure genius!)

How about some mojo bringing duos?

Pope & Young or Boone & Crockett come to mind.

I still like Vermonsters but it sounds like I am going to have to do some selling for it   ;)

You know, I have to apologize.  Compton was a MESS with the tent blowing down and was very busy once we got everything set back up.  We got our bows and they shoot AWESOME!  I just did not have time to get pics of them together yet.  I thought that would happen yesterday, but both of us are a little busy trying to keep our jobs!

So, until I can get the pair together, here are a couple pics of mine.  I am terrible with bow pictures   :(  .  TallTines is going to be a mover and a shaker in the custom bow market in a short amount of time I predict    .  When I get a little time, I am going to do a test, Blacky style to compare this to my Tips and some other high end bows...stay tuned.
