It works!!!! this is 5 arrows at 20yds.
i bought 200 and they spined about 100# so i tapered them, that didn't help too much with the spine, so i tapered the whole shaft, from front to nock, and got them to spine about 70# that is what i shoot, they shoot as good as any i have shot

I make 'em out of oak dowels, and get the same results. Gotta love em!!!

Those are some nice looking arrows! So, where did you get your 200 ramin shafts and how did you do your tapering?

With all those holes in your shed, you need some bigger 3D targets...or keep those shots at 10 yards - LOL! Just made my first set, but using 5/16 from Micheals craft store. Took back those that didn't spine around 50 for me. Still working at straightening them. Still cant' get them to shoot quite as well as my POC's. But still trying! Steve

Ramin is a great heavy wood and it comes in high poundage spines but it is so brittle that they break when deflected off from limbs or other obstructions.

Ramin is a tropical hardwood imported mostly from Malaysia. It is sold as dowels at hardware and craft stores. It is very inexpensive and makes a great arrow at a great price. Super tough. Someone said they break easy but that hasn't been the case for me at all. It's way tougher than cedar. If they are breaking easy, there is probably severe grain run off. The grain on ramin is hard to read, there aren't visible rings like most arrow woods.
But it isn't being imported anymore from what I understand. Once stock is gone, that's it. Some have said that birch dowels are on par with ramin in price and durability, but I haven't tried them yet.
