I definately had a blast.
Larry knows where the elk are.
I don't know if we should call him the Elkherder or Elk Whisperer.
We parked my little car and walked up a road about a mile.
After shooting a sage rat and a bunch of stumps, we started up a gentle slope and I took a step and like a brick wall, I smelled elk.
We sat there for a few minutes and Larry let out a call. A few minutes later, he saw a cow, but I missed her.
We went up the road a little farther maybe another 200 yards and I heard a mew, Larry started calling and we started hearing elk above and below us.
We got the wind right and sat up under a large tree in the shade. Larry did his sweet talk and the elk started coming.
A solo cow meandered within 60 or 70 yards and never knew we were even in town.
After the solo cow went by, we could hear elk down below us and very close.
Another herd had trompled within about 75 yards. There were a ton of cows, calves, and a spike bull.
It was a cool event to say the least.
I think it is awesome that Larry has put this elk hunt together.
Thanks again Larry.
