I hunted with this quiver a week or so ago, and had to make some improvements. The rear strap around the quiver squeaked badly. I couldn't make it quiet and it was driving me crazy in the woods. The other problem that I found was the opening to draw arrows from was collapsing slightly and it is pretty small to start with. Drawing an arrow was not too difficult, but drawing a specific arrow was a pain. I needed a better way to have access to a judo for killing stumps. This is what I came up with.
First I got rid of the rear strap and sewed on a wing harness type set-up. It doesn't make any noise, and gave me a great, secure place to locate my knife sheath. The sheath is sewed in at the rear.
Next I cut one of the piggy backer quiver do hickys in half, and used them as a judo holder. I secured them with a screw through the doubled leather in each spot. A dab of super glue gel on the threads makes it very secure.
Next I cut two ipe strips and drilled holes all down the center to lace it to the leather arrow opening. The strips extend past the hole on each end by about 1 1/2". Now it stays open and looks pretty cool.
Lastly, I stained the whole quiver a little darker, since it's the only color I had on hand. I think it's mahogony. I just made a good quiver into a great quiver. I'm hunting with it tomorrow, and will let you all know how she does.
