Almost free bow for someone
« on: July 07, 2009, 09:23:00 AM »
Here's the deal.  I know somewhere there is a kid who needs a bow or someone got laid off and had to sell their bow(s) to make ends meet.  If you cover my shipping costs of 15 bucks and pass this bow along to someone who genuinely needs it, I'll give you a RH, Herters International Match Hunter, 62", 52# @ 28", This bow is a smooth good shooter, the wide limbs make for an easy draw.  Green glass over maple lams, not sure of the riser - looks like zebrawood or rosewood. Refinished and re-inked, missing the Herters sticker - not a mint collector's item, but in good condition for it's age. Has had two holes in the riser repaired and has a good quality epoxy repair to some lifted strands in the lower belly limb. Brush rest, newer string with yarn silencers and leather tip protector. All recent pictures posted here:

This is the only place I am posting this, so the first person who responds knowing of or having a genuine need for this bow will get it.  Thank you and God Bless.

My son in law lost his job and now can't find work. He is a good guy, just a simple farm boy grown up. He is a hunter who has sold all of his guns and hunting equipment bit by bit to provide some money for his family. He is in the process of losing his house and moving to an apartment. Times are tough for him, and thus for my daughter and grand daughter as well. I am sure there are lots of guys out there who are a lot worse off these days.
I am not going to ask for the bow for him. I will probably just send him one of my bows to use this fall. Your post was a reminder that I could be doing more for him if I scrimp and save a little more. With this economy I doubt that he will have any work before Christmas.
Times are tough out there for lots of people and it looks like it will get worse before anything improves. You are a good man for offering this. I am sure you will find someone worthy.

Bert,
I just called my nephew and he was given a long bow from a buddy of his, so he is all set.  Again, I am sure this bow will go to someone in need.

Bow is spoken for.  Someone lost everything in a house fire and a friend spoke up for them.  Thanks to all who responded, I am really glad to be able to do this for someone.

Mike,
Thanks for clearing that up for me.  I had been puzzled by that for as long as I have owned that bow.
