Ok folks I have this ugly little obsidian knife I made That needs a new home. It's pretty small only about 5 1/2 inches overall with a 2 1/2 inch blade. It's made of a nice colored piece of mahogany obsidian with a whitetail spike antler handle (taken by my recurve). It may be ugly but this one has some serious mojo! Heres the story. I have recently ran into a rock shortage, so I have been going through some of my "set aside for later pieces" These are all pieces that are small, have ugly stacks, or pieces I have broke but have enough meaterial to rework.
Anyway. this particular piece had a nasty stack. I actually worked this piece down last summer. While in St. Louis for my son's AAYBA little league world series, I managed to sneak some rock and a billet or two into the car. I know I would need something to keep me occupied because this country boy was gonna be stuck in the city for a week! One morning while there I had to get out of the city for some air so I snuck out before daylight and drove to the Cahokia mounds complex outside of ST louis. Anyway this preform was worked down on the top of Monk's mound as the sun rose( I worked on a small tarp so as not to disturb the mound with my work). I had high hopes for it but it developed the above mentioned stacks. I finaly dug it out again this week and managed to get a rough blade from it. The actual rock came from utah, I traded some flint ridge material for it along time ago. I put together a nice little neck sheath for it and added a buffalo tooth for even more mojo.
Here's how I am gonna do this, Just post a 4 digit number with no 0's in it and on sunday I'll have each of my 4 sons pick a number this will be combined to a 4 digit. The one closest to the number gets the knife. Please check to make sure someone else hasn't picked the same number as you. If we get duplicates only the first one posted will count.
Have fun! Adeeden
