Copperhead in freezer- now what?
«

Hey guys- I have access to copperheads and even rattlesnakes. I have considered collecting these for myself and maybe a little extra pocket cash. A couple of questions:
1) I catch one and put it in the freezer. I assume they die over a short time of actual freezing to death?
2) So what do I do now? Thaw and skin? Salt? dry?
3) How do I store it for my future use or resale?
Thanks much

Bears can attack people- although fewer people have been killed by bears than in all WWI and WWII combined.

Kill it and cut it's head off first. Be carefull with the severed head, they have very primitive nervous systems and you can actually get bit hours after they've been dead. I once skinned out a rattler that had been in my cooler for over 6 hours and it was still having muscle motions. Skin it out, scrape any attached flesh, and tack it to a board flesh side out. It should dry to a paper like consistancy in about a day. Trim them and roll them up. keep in a dry place.
